For a better tomorrow

DIA. Corporate. Responsibility.

Since its foundation in 2001, DIA has been involved in social projects and charitable causes. It is part of our corporate culture that we not only work together, care for each other and have fun, but also want to make the world a better place.

With the active support of our employees and many people who are enthusiastic about our activities, DIA has once again focused on giving something back over the past year. We actively live our important corporate values of appreciation, cohesion and empathy with various donations and charitable activities.

And this has been the case for 20 years now.

Himalayan Care Foundation

Humanitarian aid for children and families

The Himalayan Care Foundation (HCF) is doing a great job in supporting children and families in underdeveloped regions of the Himalayas. By working closely with various stakeholders such as organizations, authorities or professionals in the fields of education and health, the association aims to create long-term change for the benefit of the people living there.
To this end, HCF implements social and medical projects as well as preventive aid projects, which include a basic supply of drinking water and sanitary facilities for village schools. DIA supports the Leun-based association and its important work since 2022.

DIA Community Forest

Let´s go, team earth!

Our latest Impact project is dedicated to protecting virgin forest in two of the most biodiverse areas on earth, the Peruvian Amazon rainforest and the primeval forest in Canada. The Wilderness International Foundation (WI) buys wilderness areas with land register entry in a legally secure manner and protects them concretely, comprehensibly and in the long term for all future. Every euro donated protects one square meter of space!

What convinced us was the directness of the work. Instead of expensive awareness campaigns, Wilderness International actually buys existing wilderness areas. Everyone can view the selected areas by means of geo-coordinates and understand the purchase from their donation. More transparency is not possible! Tree plantations and planted forests achieve only a fraction of the biodiversity and biomass compared to virgin forests, even after 25 years of growth. Become part of our community and a climate hero with impact.

Convoy for Ukraine

Aid that arrives

DIA supports the aid convoy for Ukraine of the Round Table Germany.

The aid convoy supplies Ukrainians with relief goods and has been made possible by an experienced and proven network in Germany, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Moldova and Romania. The project has been able to compile and process lists of specifics needs in a very short time and get a large quantity of humanitarian and medical aid supplies out within the first few days. These supplies are handed over to partners close to the border and reach the people affected directly.

Menschen für Kinder e.V.

Christmas donation

The direct help that "Menschen für Kinder" (People for Children) provides to children in need is of particular concern to DIA. We have been committed to the association since 2014 and, in keeping with our tradition, we have once again dispensed with customer Christmas gifts this year and made a donation to Menschen für Kinder.

The goal of Menschen für Kinder (MfK for short) is to help children in need. The non-profit organization is committed to helping children with long-term illnesses, particularly cancer, and other children in need.
Donations are used to support children's clinics and children's oncological practices throughout Germany.
Donations reach the projects without deductions.

Christmas parcel convoy

Making children's eyes light up

The Christmas parcel convoy ("Weihnachtspäckchenkonvoi, WPK") is a fundraising campaign of Round Table Germany, which DIA has been involved in for many years. Every year we set up a collection point, organize boxes and pack Christmas packages to bring a little joy to numerous children in Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania and Ukraine. In collaboration with Round Table, we organize and monetarily support the transport of the Christmas gifts to orphanages, hospitals, institutions for the disabled, kindergartens and schools in the poorest, most remote rural regions of Eastern Europe.

From 50 packages packed by DIA employees in the first year, our contribution now stands at 440 packages donated by employees, partner companies, kindergartens and school classes, friends and families.

Donations for the Christmas parcel convoy

Not only parcels

The Christmas parcel convoy is only possible with the support of countless helpers working on a purely voluntary basis. The volunteer drivers pay a flat rate for food and accommodation at the end destinations out of their own pockets, and most of the vehicles are provided by supporters.

However, additional support is needed to cover logistics and fuel costs. Our annual Christmas donation ensures that the convoy will continue rolling again next year, bringing a little happiness to children in need over the festive season.

Blood donation campaign at DIA in Leitz Park

Donate blood - save lives

Blood is an elixir of life and the constant availability of blood can be essential for survival.

Around 14,000 units of blood are needed every day in Germany alone. On 6 May 2022, a large-scale blood donation campaign was held with the Gießen Marburg University Hospital at our headquarters in Wetzlar. This was the fourth time in a row that we were able to organize a blood donation campaign at our company, which this year collected 20 liters of blood, thanks also to many colleagues from Leica GmbH, Volksbank Mittelhessen eG and Nachfolgekontor GmbH. Another charitable tradition that DIA was able to establish.

TERRA TECH Förderprojekte e.V.

Small contribution - big effect

The association TERRA TECH Förderprojekte e.V. supports aid projects through donations, which among other things distribute food and hygiene packages in war zones in the Ukraine. However, the main project of TERRA TECH is the aid for East Africa. Here, too, the association uses donations to organize food transports to compensate for crop failures and famines. With the contribution of 30€ alone, the association can guarantee a school child in Kenya a supply of enough food for 30 days.

DIA participates annually in the Advent calendar raffle of the association and supports through the associated donation not only its important work, but also offers #TeamDIA the opportunity to win great prizes during the Advent season.

World Vision

Chance for education, medical care and a better future

One of DIA's first social commitments in 2004 was the World Vision sponsorship of the boy Darkhanbayar Munkhjargal from Mongolia. This was followed in 2006 by sponsorships for the three children Vo Tuan from Vietnam, Toni Omondi from Kenya and Tsolmontamir from Mongolia.

Darkhanbayar Munkhjargal is now an adult. With little Ines from Burundi, there are currently four children whose nutrition, drinking water, medical care and education DIA has made possible for many years. Of course, there is always a donation for the children and their village community at Christmas.

Cultural Sponsorships

Culture in Wetzlar

In addition to voluntary and social projects, we at DIA also want to promote cultural activities. Therefore, we have been supporting cultural sponsorships in the immediate vicinity of our HQ in Wetzlar for several years. In the course of this, we have supported the Wetzlarer Festspiele since 2012 and the Theaterring Wetzlar e.V. since 2015.

Volunteering

Personal Engagement

At DIA, we not only enable our colleagues to volunteer alongside their job with us - we actively support them in their projects. We want our #TeamDIA to have the opportunity to volunteer and give back to the world and society, even beyond the charity campaigns that run through us as an employer.

These can be very different projects, such as volunteering with the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW), which is active in civil defense and disaster relief, or the social dog training, in which our employees and their four-legged friends can be deployed in schools, retirement homes, hospitals or hospices.
We are proud of the commitment of our colleagues and want to continue to promote this.
